The Artist

Master Mohsen Kaveh

Mohsen Kaveh, a first-degree visual artist, has dedicated more than two decades to reviving the art of wood marquetry. His works blend engineering precision with the spirit of painting — each veneer like a natural brushstroke of colour and grain.

By inventing the Zarif-Negareh technique, he made unprecedented detail possible in marquetry — a achievement celebrated at national and international festivals, including the IRSICA award.

The Craft

The art of wood marquetry

Marquetry is the art of creating an image from pieces of natural wood. No paint — only the variety of grain and colour in different woods forms a living, lasting picture.

Design & wood selection

The design is drawn and for each area a veneer with matching colour and grain is chosen.

Fine cutting

Pieces are cut with a fretsaw, hair by hair, so they fit exactly side by side.

Assembly & glue

Pieces are laid like a wooden puzzle and fixed onto the ground surface.

Finish & oil

The surface is sanded and oiled so the natural grain shines and endures.
